TV Troubleshooter

Things to check before you call.

1.                  Try another channel, such as channel 3, does it have problems also?  If you have more than one TV, check to see if the problem is affecting all TV’s or just the one.  If it’s just the one, check to see if the VCR or DVD player is on.  Hit the power button to be sure it’s off, even if you didn’t turn it on earlier.  Also, check the connections behind the TV and VCR for a snug fit.  If you have a digital box, be sure the TV is tuned to channel 3 and the digital box is turned on.

2.                  If the problem affects all your TV’s, try calling the neighbor’s house.  Is their TV fine?  If so, check to see if a tree limb has not fallen on the line or that the cable has not been damaged by a pet or work done in the back yard.  Is your payment up-to-date?  Check the front door for a door hanger notifying you of a non-payment disconnect.

3.                  Report your problem accurately.  Is the problem on all the channels or just certain channels?  Are your pictures snowy or have lines in them?  Is there a glitch in the picture every 10 seconds?  If you have the glitch, it’s the military radar sweep causing the interference.  We have filters in place but are not able to completely get rid of it.  It shouldn’t last very long (15 minutes) before the interference goes away.  Antenna channels are the most susceptible to snowy pictures due to atmospheric conditions.  These channels include 2,4,5,9,11,13 and 24.

4.                  There are times when we must make repairs or upgrade equipment.  All of the major planned changes happen during off-hours at night (12am-6am maintenance window).  If several of your channels are off during the day or outside the maintenance window for more than 10 minutes, please call our office number.  1-800-287-8495 (use option 3 after normal business hours to page a technician).  Please leave a detailed message of the problem along with your name, address, city and call back number.
